With only two actual infantry divisions posted in the Dutch islands, it seemed rather bleak that they would be able to hold off the Serbian invaders. Cut off from supplies, and out-numbered, the Dutch defenders surrender the islands without confirmation from the Crown, wisely saving the lives of countless men rather than attempting to defend the already forfit islands.
